Fue el tercero de ocho hermanos de los que solo llegaron 4 a la vida adulta. Su padre fue inventor e ingeniero que, por desgracia, se arruin\u00f3 y tuvo que emigrar a Rusia donde prosper\u00f3 en los negocios de explosivos. Fue en Estocolmo donde el joven Alfred aprendi\u00f3 qu\u00edmica, literatura, idiomas y ciencias naturales de mano de los mejores tutores de la \u00e9poca.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n<h3>El cartucho<\/h3>\n<p>En 1850 es enviado a Par\u00eds para estudiar ingenier\u00eda qu\u00edmica. Es all\u00ed donde conoce a Ascanio Sobrero, inventor de la nitroglicerina -explosivo l\u00edquido que estalla con calor o presi\u00f3n-. Un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s tarde trabaja y estudia en Estados Unidos con el inventor del buque de guerra acorazado USS Monitor de Guerra Civil Estadounidense para regresar, en 1852, a Estocolmo y trabajar en el negocio de su padre. Durante los a\u00f1os sucesivos sigui\u00f3 trabajando con la nitroglicerina.<br \/>\nEn 1863, ya en Estocolmo, invent\u00f3 un detonador que consist\u00eda en un tap\u00f3n de madera insertado en una carga m\u00e1s grande de nitroglicerina contenida en un recipiente de metal. Este detonador ten\u00eda una carga peque\u00f1a de p\u00f3lvora negra en el tap\u00f3n. A\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde invent\u00f3 la versi\u00f3n mejorada de este detonador. Tambi\u00e9n, descubri\u00f3 que la combinaci\u00f3n de nitroglicerina con diatomita pod\u00eda utilizarse de forma m\u00e1s segura, cuando se le ordenaba. A este invento lo llam\u00f3 dinamita. Era el a\u00f1o 1867.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n<h3>La explosi\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<p>La dinamita multiplicaba la potencia de la p\u00f3lvora y era bastante m\u00e1s segura que otros explosivos m\u00e1s potentes como la nitroglicerina. De inmediato se le dieron tres usos principales: la demolici\u00f3n, la miner\u00eda y los trabajos para las l\u00edneas de ferrocarril (t\u00faneles).<br \/>\nDurante 1875 invent\u00f3 la gelignita, m\u00e1s estable y potente que la dinamita. M\u00e1s adelante cre\u00f3 la balistita, una de las primeras p\u00f3lvoras sin humo.<br \/>\nAdem\u00e1s de los explosivos, invent\u00f3 el detonador, caucho sint\u00e9tico, la seda artificial y el cuero, entre otros, en total registr\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 350 patentes en varios pa\u00edses.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n<h3>La calma<\/h3>\n<p>Alfred Nobel muri\u00f3 en san Remo, Italia, en 1896. Quiso que parte de su herencia se destinase a las personas que hab\u00edan hecho contribuciones en el campo del conocimiento y del progreso.<br \/>\nLos primeros premios Nobel se otorgaron en 1901.<br \/>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n<h3>\u00bfSab\u00edas que\u2026?<\/h3>\n<p>La ceremonia de entrega de los premios tiene lugar el 10 de diciembre, fecha de fallecimiento de Alfred Nobel, en Estocolmo.
